RIP Chris Cornell
The music world has unfortunately just lost another major influence. Chris Cornell, frontman of Audioslave and Soundgarden, was found dead in a hotel room in Detroit in the midst of a tour. His death was ruled suicide by hanging. He was 52 years old.
Here’s footage of his last performance: a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “In My Time of Dying.” The song was the product of a last minute setlist change. It’s a little creepy almost, knowing what he was planning with this as his final performance.
Soundgarden was set to release a record later this year. No official word on the status of the upcoming album or the current tour yet.
Our thoughts go out to Chris’s loved ones and bandmates today. And thank you for giving the rest of us your music. Your legacy will live on.
