Sleep On It + Don Broco
Don Broco finally headed out on their first ever US headlining tour with Sleep On It opening, and I was HAPPY about it. I love them both. They played Gramercy Theatre in New York three days before my birthday. WOOOO birthday show!
AND it was sold out! I was so proud.
I called it a birthday show, but I only knew of two people who would be there: Danny, who I know through Coheed, and Meaghan, who’s friends with Niki. I left both of them in the back of the venue when Sleep On It came on, because I wanted to be in the pit for them.
Zech from SOI was literally right behind me and Meaghan during the other opening bands and I was awkward af about it and didn’t say hi, just kinda kept glancing at him like a weirdo.
Sleep On It
There were a few dudes in the pit for SOI who were super into it and singing every song. Their new album Pride and Disaster literally came out that day, so I hadn’t listened to it yet, but the guys in the pit even knew all the new songs.
We opened a little mosh pit and I immediately decided I liked these dudes. Also a girl named Katelyn who was super sweet and only 19 years old. We became friends, and I kinda mama bear’d in the pit for her and also a 15 year old girl. Damn I’m old.
I crowdsurfed once during their set.

Don Broco
Honestly I love Sleep On It, but Don Broco consistently blows everyone else wayyyy out of the water. They are SO GOOD. Phenomenal.
The guys in the pit said they thought I could kick their asses. I may be getting old, but I still got it. I stayed with them and Katelyn during Don Broco, even though Danny and Meaghan were SOMEWHERE in the pit at this point. They weren’t like in the mosh pit with us though.
I crowdsurfed a few times, definitely during “Greatness,” and again whenever it was we crouched down, one of the dudes offered to launch me when we stood back up. It was GREAT.
I forgot to wear an appropriate bra for “T-shirt Song” but I took my shirt off anyway. Who cares. Sorry not sorry.
Katelyn and I took pics of each other shirtless. New friend goals tbh.
There was a wall of death during “Half Man Half God.”
Rob told us he was consider the first show in Boston practice, and NYC was the first *real* time they played “Action.”
The energy in that room, oh my god. Both onstage and in the pit. Loved it.

After the show, Danny just kinda peaced out without saying goodbye, and then texted me that he had to take his dog out. So Katelyn and I went to McDonalds. I also invited the dudes from the pit, but they were a little weirded out and confused that we had just met, and they wanted to go drink instead. Losers. Food > alcohol post-show always. Or at least food and THEN alcohol.
