Thank You Scientist at Rough Trade
Rough Trade is a record store in Brooklyn that has an entire venue in the back. Thank You Scientist played a show there, and I met up with some of my Coheed friends. I hung with Devin and Zach in the record store until it was time for Thank You Scientist to come on.
Devin and I hung in the back of the venue during most of the show. We agreed that Maps of Nonexistent Places is their best album, and I admitted to him that I only really listened to their newer album Stranger Heads Prevail once and didn’t like it as much.
Then Devin left kinda early, so I ended up leaving before their set had totally ended too.
The crowd was kinda sparse, and there was some random dancing, but no mosh pit or anything. Maybe moshing isn’t totally appropriate for this kind of music.
They had these weird movie clips or something going on behind them, it was super strange and distracting. One was like this sexual horror thing? With a dude like… being eaten? And the people around him had their faces melt off? It was weird af, I couldn’t look away, I hated it.
But Thank You Scientist are SUPER talented musicians. Much respect.
