The Sheckies + The Pathogens
My friend Nick drives a Punk Rock Van for touring bands, and his latest tour is with the Sheckies out of South Jersey. They came through San Francisco to open for the Pathogens at Thee Parkside. I’d never heard of the Sheckies, but:
1) Nick hasn’t been here since The Lookouting over a year ago.
2) The Pathogens are lead by two Bay Area legends, Cinder Block AND Jesse Luscious.
3) Thee Parkside has tater tots.
Let’s be real, it’s never been hard to talk me into going to a show.
The Sheckies
The Sheckies were a lot of fun. I think being not-so-in-shape is part of their schtick, as seen by their album artwork:
Really enjoyed their set. Have some videos:
Yes, you noticed that right. Frontman Andy Social is wearing boxers onstage. Nick made a comment earlier in the night about the band stripping down, and I couldn’t tell if he was kidding or not.
He was not.
At one point in the set, he turns me around to face the bar. Yeahhhhh the boxers came off for a second too. I think it was just a butt flash? Glad I don’t know that for sure.
Then the best was Nick jumping onstage wearing a slug mask for “I Am a Slug.”
This is a tiny bar show. Not like a crazy huge venue or anything. But there is the door security, grabbing Nick from the stage and making him prove he’s with the band. Pretty sure that same door security guy got in a fight with Bill Schneider of the Coverups a week prior. Ya know. I guess he’s doing his job. Maybe.
Then they had a guest vocalist for “Paranoid Together.”
The Rinds
Year of the Fist
Tbh I actually missed these guys completely cuz I was sitting at the Sheckies’ merch table. Whoops.
But I don’t wanna leave you with nothing, so have a music video:
The Pathogens
These guys always kill it.
